Mohsen Fouladi left his native country of Iran to come to the U.S. for the first time about a month ago. As he prepares to start a PhD program at Texas Tech this fall, Fouladi said he feels a sense of responsibility to speak up in support of what he thinks will help Iranians whose voices are not heard.
“Everything is more calm (in the U.S). You don’t have (to worry) for your vocation or your job and you don’t have (worry) about your future,” he said. “(In Iran) you don’t have any long-term plans because you don’t know if the value of the money is rising or changing.”
